Carlos Suarez brings to Woodland Lumber his background as a structural engineer with over 25 years in the wood and lumber products business.   His extraordinary attention to detail and focus on customer needs set him apart in this industry. Carlos provides custom engineering and specialty woods for each client's unique architectural vision. 

Most important to Carlos are the relationships he develops through Woodland Lumber. Each builder, designer, homeowner and supplier he deals with receives his focused attention. He understands that your project is important. “I don't want to be just another materials supplier. My niche is in specialty woods and engineering. My goal is to help each person achieve their vision in the most efficient way at the best possible price. This is how I build my business.   Customers and clients return to me and pass my name to others - that’s the best complement I can receive.”

Carlos especially enjoys working with timber frame construction, seeing the project through the engineering phase and procuring structural and architectural components for these beautiful, one-of-a-kind structures.  

A proud graduate of North Carolina State University with a B. S. in Civil Engineering (GO WOLFPACK!), his first engineering internship was providing detailed designs and fabrication shop drawings for a glulam timber manufacturer. Since then, Carlos’ career has included bridge design, consulting for large industrial facilities, sales and manufacturing of engineered lumber and specialty woods.   In 2003, he opened Woodland Lumber Company, focusing mainly on lumber sales and deliveries. Since then, WLC has evolved to fill the engineering needs of his client base.

Carlos and his wife Jackie have been married for over 20 years. You will see Carlos with their faithful companion- and official Woodland Lumber mascot- Chica.
